Cuisinart CPT-2000 2-Slice Long Slot Motorized Toaster

What were they thinking?
I owned an older model of this toaster which finally died after many years of use. I was so excited to see that Cuisinart came out with a newer model, I ordered it for myself and a relative. After I had to spend a great deal of time removing the large Cuisinart adhesive sticker on the side of the toaster (you think we won't know it's a Cuisinart?), I plugged it in and dropped two pieces of bread into the "2 slice" toaster. Much to my surprise, my bread didn't fit. I buy a very common brand of multi grain and/or potato bread and two slices overlap in the "long" slot. If you turn the bread with the top facing sideways, it still won't work as it protrudes above the heat elements when lowered. I would have to cut off about 1/4 inch of one slice of bread to toast two slices at the same time. Are you kidding? The older model fit two slices with room to spare. For this price, the least Cuisinart could do is make a toaster that fits two slices bread that are larger than sandwich bread...

Great toaster!
This is my second Cuisinart 2-slice long slot toaster. This one looks great. Love the beep letting you know the toast is finished. I do think it could be a little longer and higher. Some large pieces of bread stick out the top and do not get toasted. It is definitely slightly smaller than the one I used for years that they no longer make.

Makes great toast
It'd be completely perfect if half inch longer but we love how little space it takes up and looks great. Can't imagine more exact or easier setting controls. With all our various sized bakery breads, I sometimes have to make my sandwiches one slice at a time but it is fast enough that it really isn't a problem to start on one side first, and I could just let the bread crusts overlap since it adjusts for width. Easy enough to dump crumbs and it doesn't show finger prints. Just a fabulous toaster.
