does not filter fine ash
This filter will not stop fine wood ash, but allows it to flow through the Dustbuster into the air.
Replacing the original filter fabric with a piece of paper towel as suggested by another reviewer does stop the ash. Easier than the piece of paper towel to install is an ordinary round coffee filter. Both require frequent replacement if used to filter fine ash.

just got an extra ones to have one hand for the day I need it. I won't be using them for while I'm sure.

I've not had a chance to use these filters since the Dustbuster vacuum is pretty new, however the quality look and feel of these filters fits the bill. I'll reserve a 5th star rating pending outcome of their life-cycle (time will tell), the pricing is good. I recommend this product.
